The DREAM Act

It isn't enough to talk about peace.
One must believe in it.
And it isn't enough to believe in it.
One must work at it.

The Dream Act
On September 14th, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid announced that he will bring the DREAM Act up for a vote on the Senate floor as an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act, which the Senate will soon be considering.
Restrictionist members of the Senate are likely to threaten a filibuster of the bill, meaning that in order for the DREAM Act to be considered on the merits, it will first have to win 60 votes to stop the filibuster. A vote could come as early as Tuesday of next week.

With your help, the DREAM Act will be considered and pass in the Senate.

Points You Can Make About the DREAM Act

* The DREAM Act is bipartisan legislation that gives eligible young people who were brought to the U.S. as children the opportunity to resolve their immigration status and work towards citizenship. To move from being undocumented to being a U.S. citizen, those eligible will have to pass background checks and be of good moral character, graduate from high school, and go on to complete additional requirements related to attending college or completing military service.

The DREAM Act is supported by 70 percent of likely voters and by leaders in education, the military, business and religious orders.

* A national poll of 1,008 adults, conducted by Opinion Research Corporation for First Focus in June 2010, shows that support cuts across regional and party lines with 70 percent overall support.

* University presidents and educational associations, as well as military recruiters, business and religious leaders have called on Congress to pass the DREAM Act.

The DREAM Act is a great return on money we have already invested and will prepare the country for the global economy.

* The students who would benefit under the DREAM Act have been raised and educated in the U.S. State and local taxpayers have already invested in the education of these children in elementary and secondary school. America deserves a return on their investment.

* Leading businesses such as Microsoft have endorsed the DREAM Act because they recognize that our broken immigration system is draining our economy of the talent and resources needed to compete in the global economy.

The DREAM Act promises to dramatically increase the pool of highly qualified recruits for the U.S. Armed Forces.

* There is a strong tradition of military service in immigrant families, but the lack of immigration status prevents many of those who wish to serve from enlisting.

Passage of the DREAM Act will increases revenues in our communities.
* Enabling 800,000 immigrant students access to higher education would go a long way in inspiring other immigrant youth to strive for a college education. This will help boost the number of high skilled American-raised workers. As they take their place as hard working, taxpaying Americans, they will contribute a lifetime of revenues at the local, state and federal level.

I learned how to blog in 08.
Just the story of my second hand computer, that crashed every two minutes would take forever to tell.
I have a friend a computer tech, who taught me how to blog and everything I know.

Back in 08 I decided to make a blog of good music for our Service People. We all know how terrible the radio is!
I also decided to blog about social issues. It's really bad out there!

I'm from Bayonne, NJ and I know how bad the people are being led astray by drugs and ignorance of their danger!

Darn, in yesterday's Star Ledger, a lawyer is going to jail for violating probation on a methamphetamine charge!

Methamphetamine is some chemicals made in a beaker!
I wouldn't put poison like that in my body!

I grew up in the sixties! Most of us never stood a chance!

I have a BA in Sociology and I know how to use it!

I am bitter at the way society fed my generation the idea that drugs and partying were the cool way to act.
Now the world has finally degenerated to a degree where the oppression is intolerable!
We're going backwards!

So naturally, being a Sociologist
(even if I don't work).
Gives me the knowledge, to observe, critique and analyze.

Being a Hippie I do my research for the people.
I don't need it.
My blogs just grew by themselves. I have tons of the best music videos and many good links about financial aid, immigration, food banks, employment training and lots of Veterans information too.

People Are My Passion. I Am Lucky In Love and that's it!

http://irish-ga.blogspot.com/2009/10/nicholas-brothers-lucky-number.html

Ever Since I started, it's a compulsion and keeps me occupied.
I decided to give the world my take on how to have a good life.
I temporarily have a lot of time on my hands, a good computer, and a computer tech who works cheap.

So I created my blog to share. To give back what the world has given me!
I try.

I wrote War In The Ghetto for all the young kids who are getting sucked into drugs, alcohol, anything that takes their attention away from Achieving, Surviving!

War In The Ghetto

http://peace-now-ga.blogspot.com/2010/01/war-in-ghetto-dedicated-to-my-old-old.html

I made pages for our Troops and Veterans too.
The Kids on the streets and our Military, are the two reasons I started to blog!

World Peace is still a big issue!

No one has to contribute $300.

Whatever that actually means I have no idea!

Myanmar's opposition leader and Nobel prize winner, Aung San Suu Kyi, has seen the inside of the infamous Insein (pronounced "insane") prison.

Aung San Suu Kyi's last birthday was spent in the infamous Insein (pronounced "insane") prison – notorious for its foul conditions and unrelenting use of torture.

Today, more than 2,100 political prisoners are being held in Myanmar (formerly known as Burma), many of whom are hidden away in the prison's darkest corners.

But in honor of Suu Kyi's 65th birthday on June 19th, we're doing all we can to fill those corners with light and expose Myanmar's treatment of political dissents for what it really is…insane.

Help drive our ongoing work to protect human rights in Myanmar.

Less than a month ago, a youth member of the former National League for Democracy, the political party headed by Aung San Suu Kyi, had his sentence in Insein prison extended by 10 years.

Life without human rights is insane!

Myanmar's Insein Prison, where thousands of political prisoners are believed to be held.
one offense - distributing a portrait of Aung San Suu Kyi.

This blatant manipulation of laws and outright injustice has got to stop!

We've fought tirelessly on behalf of myanmar for the past 2 decades and such abuse of human rights only fuels our desire to bring violators to justice once and for all.

Our team of researchers and experts are observing Myanmar closely and reporting back whenever there are new developments and opportunities for action.

And given that national elections are planned for later this year, our teams are remaining particularly vigilant to ensure that no person is improperly detained during election-related crackdowns without setting off major alarms across the human rights spectrum.

The computer is the invention that saves the world! Communication is the answer. The world seems to have stopped communicating. We had some breakthroughs in understanding each other but the ability for people to communicate seems to have really slowed down.

I told my computer tech guy that I was on a Mission to save the world. I cannot stand the craziness any more.

I thought maybe people just don't understand maybe if someone just tells them they will understand!

So I decided why not. I'm good at telling people what I think. All my life, every time someone gets in trouble they run to me for help.

I would like to see everyone in the world have a decent home, food, clothing, medicine all the things most people have. But there are places in the world where they have no water, food, anything!

This is why the world is always fighting. The poor want the rich to give back a little of what they stole from them.

I Hear Them All! There are a lot of Revolutionaries out here.

I'm with you President Obama, I'm definitely ready to change the world. Just point me in the right direction!
