The Newark Youth Leadership Project
The major focus of Greater Newark Conservancy's Job Training Program is the Newark Youth Leadership Project (NYLP).
The NYLP is a year round job and leadership training program which provides Newark, NJ high school and college youth with job training experience, leadership development, and exposure to different career options in environmental and horticultural fields and opportunities for pursuing a college education.

In addition, job training interns are given the chance to participate in outdoor horticultural activities that they would probably never experience otherwise. Through this program the Conservancy seeks to improve conditions in the urban community by increasing employability and earning potential. The year round NYLP has now been in operation for over ten years and has had hundreds Newark youth participants.

Note To: Our Lady Of Assumption Parishioners Bayonne, NJ Occupy Mass! Occupy Mt Carmel Church.

They want 1,700 OLA Parishioners to  travel either all the way across town, to Mount Carmel Church,  or all the way downtown, to St Mary's and St Andrew's Churches.

I say:
 OCCUPY MASS!
Fight back!

Show The Archdiocese that the Parishioners of Our Lady Of Assumption aren't fooling around!

Put the spotlight on Mt Carmel Church. How it couldn't; even within the realm of possibility, have room, for so many Parishioners. This is obvious.

Get all the Parishioners to go to Mass at Mt Carmel.

Every Mass.

Especially the Saturday night and Sunday Masses.

Fill the Sunday Masses with so many Parishioners, that they spill out onto the sidewalk. Coincidentally,  Mt Carmel has a lot of room outside.

Just cram as many Parishioners into every Mt Carmel Mass that you can.

Make an impression.

Old saying; "Seeing, Is Believing."

Assemble the largest crowds possible, to flood Every Mass with people!

Contact, TV News Media! Get TV News Coverage. Make so much noise the Media can't ignore you!

Sometimes; to convince people, you gotta be, "in their face, obvious."

This; also show's the Archdiocese, what they want to see. People attending Mass and contributing to the Church.

Show the Archdiocese that they made a mistake.

*An Even Greater Impact; Would Be, To Occupy, All Three Church's, With People Spilling Out, Into The Street! Assumption Parish Has Enough Parishioners To Accomplish This Easily.

Can you imagine what a stir, that could cause with the proper publicity!  If EveryoneFrom OLA, Occupies Every Mass At All Three Church's, From Now Until Easter!

Archdiocese; really, can't expect people to go all the way downtown to St Mary's or St Andrews. That would be too far and a hardship.

But any way; all 3 of these Church's together, are not big enough to fit, 1.700 or more, Parishioners, in addition to their own Congregations!

Show them; how, all three of these other Church's aren't big enough to hold Our Lady Of Assumption’s many Parishioners.

It’s just as cheap to keep Our Lady Of Assumption open; as it would be, to add more Masses. (Which, wouldn't solve the overcrowding problem anyway, if everyone still decided to all attend, at the same time).

I Don't Know How The Archdiocese; Could Even Consider, Closing This Beautiful Church!
Solidarity OLA!

This Easter Season; Is, The Perfect Time To

OCCUPY MASS!

Oh yeah and don't forget, Red Mike's Marching Band!

That's what I would do.
ga

Carry your signs. Always use dark lettering for signs or the writing doesn't show up on pictures good.

Organize, hold meetings, plan a strategy ie how and when to get what people to whatever Church, etc.

Fight back beyond the letter writing, phone calling.

Take my advice. Try it now through Easter.

See what happens. You have nothing, to lose.

The Archdiocese; can't dispute, visible proof.

Don't I always know what I'm talking about? (Unlike some people, who will, remain nameless).

My Grandfather Mike, is the one who taught me to love Irish music. He would play the Irish records for me. He played The Darling Girl From Clare, over and over and over. Mike really loved me.

My Uncle Timmy, (Mike's Son), is the one who taught me to love to read.
When I was real little, maybe 3, I had a fairy tales book as big as myself. My Uncle Timmy would read it to me, for hours.

He'd read a couple of stories and say, "I have to go now." I'd say, "just one more story."

He'd read another story and say, "OK,  I have to go now."

I'd say, "just one more story." We would repeat this, until I fell asleep. This would go on, through, many stories.

✰Note to Archdiocese Newark, NJ-Please Re-Open/Do Not Close Assumption Church✰

Archbishop Of Newark (NJ) John J Myers
Motto, Mysterium Ecclesiae Luceat
(translated:“Let the Mystery of the Church shine forth”) Archdiocese of Newark-Contact

Please e-mail or call Archbishop Myers.

I just e-mailed him and sent him a copy of this blog post. I also called, left a voice mail. I can afford a 20 minute, long-distance phone call to help Our Lady of Assumption Church. They were so good to us when we were kids and always great friends.

Everyone can e-mail the Archbishop. An e-mail is free and quick.
Can you imagine if he got like, 10,000 emails!
Just say; it's on behalf of the Parishioners, of Our Lady Of Assumption Church.
Tell Archbishop Myers: Please, Re-Open, Our Lady Of Assumption Church!
That; the Parishioners, Love and need this Church very much!
Five Bayonne Catholic parishes to be consolidated into two, says Archdiocese of Newark

Parishioners March To Keep Bayonne, NJ Church Open

Hundreds of parishioners of Our Lady of Assumption in Bayonne protested the closing of their church in front of the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark on Nov 1st.

Note to Archdiocese of Newark-Please, Do Not Close Assumption Church.

I understand why St Josephs and St Michael's  Churches were consolidated with Mt Carmel.

St Joseph's, no longer has a Roman Catholic Congregation and St Michael's is right across the street. Both are on the same block as Mt Carmel

Assumption is blocks away from Mt Carmel. All the way across town.

Mt Carmel is always crowded enough already; (standing room only on holidays). With the additional; Parishioners from St Joseph's, St Michael's and 1,700 more from Assumption. They wouldn't even all fit, in Mt Carmel Church!

Our Lady Of The Assumption ChurchServing the Bayonne Community, for almost 120 years!

Great Feast every August. The best zeppoles, anywhere!

I Love OLA. They kept us crazy kids safe and off the streets for hours, at their dances (back in the 1960's) every Friday night. Putting up with our drunken antics.

Bayonne, needs this Church. It’s a brand new building practically. Guess maybe 35 years old. It’s a great design to be energy efficient, too.

Throw some solar panels on the back of that roof and it’s self containing energy wise.

It’s an architecturally beautiful, modern design but large enough on the inside. More like a Chapel.
Quite beautiful inside too.

It would not only be tragic to the Congregation of 1,700 Parishioners and the Community to close this Church, but a waste to allow this beautiful building to be closed and just sit vacant in our cold and damp NJ winters. Would still have to heat the building anyway.

Note To NJ Governor Chris Christie: Regarding State Workers and Their Pensions

Sorry; Gov Christie, but, this time you're wrong.
Teachers And My Mother, Taught Me Everything I know.

For My Professor And Constant Muse; Theodore Adams, Dr Of Sociology.

How'm I doing, Roberta?
Kismet; that we're both Rebels. I Love Rebel Diaz. You are all so cool. I liked you way back when you recorded, "Which Side Are You On"?. Fabulous video. But your new videos, are totally, totally, totally Fabulous!

I was raised Union. In her day; my Mother, was an 11 year old, Suffragette!
Women's Suffrage In The United States

Women's Rights Movement in the U.S. Timeline

I Was Born: A Suffragette, A Democrat, And A Union Maid!

A little constructive criticism, often helps us all!
I've been following Governor Christie, since he was State Prosecutor. Everyone liked him then.

When he first got elected Governor; I left him a comment on nj.com and told him, that, NJ was a tough crowd and he better get ready. That; I hoped, he was up for the job, like that.

I'm from Hudson County, NJ. I understand Governor Christie. He isn't the worst Governor NJ has had.
It's just that the other ones were smart enough, to keep their mouths shut and didn't attract negative attention publicly.

If Christie wasn't a politician; people would  probably be saying, he's an ok guy.

After all, we all know and often admire some tough guys.

As Governor though, he's affecting the lives of many middle class and poor people who worked hard all their lives.

For instance State workers and their pensions.

Who are State Workers? Teachers, Firemen, Police, Anyone who works in a City or State Building. Like those Maintenance Folks, who keep all those bathrooms sparkling.

Pensions are not, a gift from the State. People pay into them.

Usually the employee pays half and the employer pays half.

At the bargaining table it's always understood; that the employer's half, is usually in lieu of accrued, extra benefits, (accumulated). Instead of  receiving such payments like raises, or added benefits; employees, are often offered, increases in, pension payments.

So in essence; a pension is actually,  entirely paid by the employee over the time of his/her employment. Pension plans, save the employer money in the long run.

Social and State Pensions
Many countries have created funds for their citizens and residents to provide income when they retire (or in some cases become disabled).

Typically this requires payments throughout the citizen's working life in order to qualify for benefits later on.

A basic State Pension is a "contribution based" benefit, and depends on an individual's contribution history.

Everybody complains about Christie.
They all had a chance to replace him, with that lovely lady, Barbara Buono (Democrat).

But; NJ election turnout in 2014, was worse than ever.

In 2014, New Jersey saw 32.5 percent of eligible voters turned out to vote in the November general election. If you don't vote, you can't complain.
